B. Martinů: Double concerto for two string orchestras, piano and timpani
One of the pivotal works of the composer from 1938. Historical circumstances changed it into a document of the whole era – the beginning of the storm of the war. The three movements expand the motive of fate and resistance. This crushingly imperative and magnificent musical message radiates an idea of vanquishing, the victory of the spirit and positive human values.

The Mayor of Liestal in Switzerland visited Martinů Fest in Polička
It was symbolic that at the opening of the 20th Martinů Fest on Sunday, May 7th 2017, the mayors of the two towns where Bohuslav Martinů was born and where he died were sitting together.
Lukas Ott and his wife were invited to Polička by the Mayor Jaroslav Martinů – they met for the first time in Basel two years ago at the festival Martinů Festtage. It was also the 20th jubilee season of this festival.
Lukas Ott wrote in the visitor’s book of the Museum – The Centre of Bohuslav Martinů: “It is very impressive to be in Polička, the birthplace of Bohuslav Martinů. Martinů is the most famous son of this town who is known all over the world. He died in our town and this fact connects Polička and Liestal forever. Polička has a great potential for the development of tourist industry, we want to co-operate in this field and I have already been thinking about specific projects which we may realize together.”
